Chapter 105 - It Has To End This Way

Jon goes into the house, seeking his wife.  He has to tell her that he's going to Dorothea's and he has to tell her why.

When he finds her, she's sitting in  recliner with Jon Spencer reading him a book.  Beth looks up and sees that Jon is upset.  "What's up babe?" she asks over the top of the book.  As soon as Jon Spencer's attention is diverted and he hears his daddy, story time is over.  The little boy gets up and makes a beeline for his daddy.  Jon smiles at the little guy, scooping him off of the floor.

"Dorothea is up to no good."  Jon kisses the baby's cheek, "I'm heading into Soho to talk to her."

Beth gets up from the chair, just as fast as Jon Spencer, but she did it with attitude.  "No you're not."  Beth states, "You are not going over there."

"I have to." he responds, in a low voice to not alarm Jon Spencer, "She's gone too far."

Beth doesn't give him the chance to go any farther, with a deep breath she yells, "Lupetta!"

Jon stands there, shocked that those decibels came from his wife, but he knows that she means business.  "Beth, she needs to be stopped."

Beth shoots him a look, and not one that he's seen too often.  He can see that she's pissed, on the verge of a meltdown.  As they stood there in the silence, Jon Spencer started to gets antsy, so Jon lets him down.  As his feet hit the floor, Lupetta appears with Brianna in her arms.  "What's up?"

"Can you take the kids to their room please."

"Of course."  she answers, reaching for Jon Spencer's hand, "Should I get them ready for bed?"

Jon jumps in, "Yes, please."

"Spencer has his snack already.  Please be sure they brush their teeth good."  Beth adds in, "And can you make sure that Romeo takes a shower."

"Sure thing!" the bubbly nanny says, as she ushers the little ones from the living room.  "Tell mommy and daddy good night."

"Good night mommy, good night daddy."  the twins tell their parents as they leave.

"What's going on with Dorothea now?"  Beth asks, exhausted from just saying her name.  "What stupid shit is she trying now?"

Jon exhales loudly, Beth can see that he's feeling defeated and unsure of what to do.  "She needs me to do a show to support a domestic abuse shelter in Sayreville."

"Why?" Beth blurts back, not seeing this one coming.  "How did she hook up with a domestic abuse shelter?"

"From what Ken could find out, she claims to have been a guest there when she was pregnant with Jesse."

"A guest?"

"Apparently she stayed there once when her and I got into a fight."

"When she was pregnant with Jesse?"  Beth sits down, "What kind of fight did you get into?"  Her head goes in her hands and she concedes.

"I have no idea what she could possibly be talking about.  I never abused her, nor would I ever."

"I know that."  Beth looks up at him, "What is she going to say happened?"

Jon sits next to her, taking her hand he admits, "I have no idea what she's going to say.  Or what she could even say."

"Why do you need to play a show for them?" Beth asks him, really uninterested in his answer, but her curiosity got the best of her.  "What do they need money for that she just can't give them?"

"Ken said they have a balloon payment due, otherwise they lose their building."

"How much?"  Beth mumbles, thinking that it can't be that much.  It's Sayreville, New Jersey.

"I don't know.  I can text Ken and find out, but why?" Jon asks her.  He's shocked that the conversation has gone down the way that it has.  Her behavior is shocking and that is really starting to scare him.

"We are making this go away.  Find out how much and I'll take them a check tomorrow."

"Bullshit."

"Jon!"  Beth glares at him, "This is one problem that we can make go away."

"I won't be blackmailed Beth." he informs her, "She isn't getting away with this one."

"Yes, she is.  We can afford to make this one go away, we can make this one go away and we're going to."

Jon stands up, rubs the palms of his hands on his thighs.  A nervous habit that the Bongiovi men have.  He turns to look at her, "We can afford it, whatever it is, but if we do this - what else will she think she can do?"

"I don't care about that right now.  We know what she is capable of and this is minor.  We need to save our resources and our energy on problems we can't fix, problems that we can't pay to go away."  Beth tells him, as she walks over to the bar, pouring herself a glass of wine.

Jon knows that she's right and he knows that it's what they need to do, he just hates to admit defeat and he hates to think that he sold out, but he has to do what's right for the family.

He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his iphone.  When he finds Ken's contact, he sends him a text how much does the shelter need?  Beth will take them a check tomorrow.  I am not playing a show.  He sends it and gets back to Beth.  "I have security waiting for me, I'm going to go tell them that I'm not going into the city."  He starts to walk away.

"Jon..."  Beth says, facing the wall, her back to him.

"Yeah, babe?" he stops and gives her his undivided attention.

"I'm sorry."  She whispers, with her glass at her mouth.  "I'm sorry that we have to do this, this way, but it's the best way."

  1. That has an strange tone to it, or it's how I read it.

  2. yeah Jon still needs to talk to Dot to find out why she went there in the first place. Beth can't stop him for that. He has to know. I know she wants to make this go away but they need to know everything that she's up too.

  3. Beth needs to see this from Jon's point of view. Yes, it is easier to just write a check and make it go away, but what happens if it gets out. Then Jon will look guilty for sending them money. It will look like a bribe. I am on Jon's side on this one.
