Chapter 112 - I'm Your Only Man

Going through the motions and helping Jon prepare to leave for a world tour proved to be a little too tough for Beth.

Between working, raising a family and helping Nina with the last minute wedding details and overseeing the wedding that is planned at the Bongiovi Vineyard, Beth has no choice but to call in the big guns.  Brianna and Jon Spencer are rolling around on the living room floor, both trying to get the attention of Copper; the beloved family dog.  Romeo and Jacob are playing thier Xbox, arguing over who makes a better virtual football player.  Beth sees what she has before her, laying and playing, along with the love of her life that's to her right in his favorite chair with his Ipad on his lap.  She reaches over and plucks her cell phone from the end table and scrolls through her contacts, finding their beloved and trusted Lupetta.  She composes a text and presses send.

Pete, need you for a few days, are you free?   Then she waits.
""Who are you texting at this hour?"  her husband whispers to her?  "Tell your boyfriend that I'll be gone in a couple of days."  He smiles at his wife and gives her a wink.

Beth returns the smile and tells him, "He already knows your schedule. I texted Pete."  She gives him a little laugh.  Her phone alerted her that she had a text.  She reads it and adds, "Pete will be here in the morning."

"For what?"  Jon asks, closing the feet of his chair, inching his way over to his wife.  With his lips on her ear and the warmth of his breath, he continues with, "What do we need Pete here for?"

Beth turns her head, looks Jon in the eye and kisses him on the lips.  "I need a little help."

"With what?"  he mumbles back to her.  They are still lip to lip.

"Have you not seen how crazy I have been?"

"It's pretty standard for you."

"Not like it has been lately.  With the wedding being at the vineyard I hate taking the twins back and forth.  It's only for a couple of days."  She curls her arms around him, resting her head on his shoulder.  "Just until the wedding."

"That's fine.  Is there anything that I can help you with?" he asks.  "How can I help?"

Beth thinks for a moment and tells him, "You can arrange for Stephanie and Jesse to get home this weekend."

"Done.  What else?"

"You can make sure that you have a tuxedo that fits."

"I do."

"Are you sure?" she looks up at him, her grin from ear to ear.  "Have you tried one on?"

Jon shakes his head no, "Kind of.  I went shopping with my brothers and we all bought new ones.  So, yeah - I have one that fits."

"What color did you get?"  she cocks an eyebrow.  "Please tell me that you got a black one."

"It's black."

Beth walks out of the master bathroom with a face towel in her hands, drying her face.  Jon is already in bed.  They have tucked the little ones in and said good night to the older two.  "How did you beat me in bed?  You were on the phone."

"I didn't want to chat anymore."
l
"Oh?"  Beth was a little surprised by his response.  "You looked pretty intense when I came upstairs."

Jon looks at her and gives her a simple shrug.

"Is everything okay?" she  questions her husband, sliding her pajama shirt on.

Jon nods, rolling onto his side facing Beth.  "Yeah, everything is fine."

Beth pauses and reads his face, fully aware that she can see something isn't right.  She can feel that something isn't right.  "What's going on?"

"Nothing, will you get in here with me please?"  he starts to whine, "just climb in here with me."

Beth slides between the sheets and melts into the arms of her husband.  As she lays there, in the quiet of their bedroom, tightly in his arms, she can hear his heartbeat as well as feel it.  "Jon, you're heart is racing."

"You do that to me, babe."  he squeezes her tighter.

Beth can feel his breathing speed up and his whole body is tense.  She raises her head, looks at him, "Okay, what's on your mind?  What happened between tucking the twins in to you getting into bed?"

"It's nothing, forget about it."

"I won't forget about it, Jon.  What's the matter?"  she hoists herself up on her left elbow.  "What's on your mind?"

"Babe, really - it's nothing.  Let's get some sleep, we have a long day tomorrow."

"Jon."

"Beth, please!"
