Chapter 81 - You Live For The Fight

Beth arrives home to find no one but the caterer's and the cleaning staff.  As she runs into the house and sees that the whole family is gone, she slightly panics.

She grabs the cordless phone and dials Jon's cell number.  It went straight to voice mail.  She's scared, "Hey babe, it's me - where are you?  Call me back."

She hangs up and immediately dials Stephanie's number.  The same thing.  "Hey Steph, it's Beth - where are you guys?  Call me, I'm at home."  She hangs up again and stands there, having no idea where everyone went.  Looking at the big clock over the fireplace she notices that it's 8:00 pm.  "Holy shit, I was gone a long time."  Shaking out of it, she heads upstairs to the master bedroom and when she walks in and sees just her suitcase laying on the bed, she gasps for air.

Before she got married today, she made sure that her bag was ready and on the bed for the driver, along with Jon's, Jacob's, Romeo's, Rowan's and Spencer's.  All were gone, but hers.  Her heart sank and she looked around for the cordless phone that was in their bedroom

She finds the receiver and dials Jon's mom and dad's number.  With a few rings, it's answered.  "Hello?"

"Mom, it's Beth.  Is Jon over there?" she fires off at her, "With the kids?"

"No dear, they left."  Mrs. B tells her. very flat and cold.

"Left?"

"Yes dear, when you got into that cop car, he grabbed the kids and they left for the honeymoon."

"Are you serious?" Beth asks, with her heart pounding out of her chest and the tears burning her eyes.  "They left without me?"

There was a brief silence, and then Carol tells her, "Jon was pretty hurt when you left just minutes after being married with another man, not to mention what the press is saying."

Beth can't listen to another word.  "Ok, thanks mom.  I need to get to my family."  And she hangs up.  In an instant, she is quickly dressed and out the door with her bags in hand, heading to the airport.  In her car, she calls the Monmouth Executive Airport and sees if there is a plane and pilot available for charter.  She is told that there is no one available and they can make her a reservation, but she politely declines and heads to Newark Airport.  She's going to grab the first available flight to Milan, she doesn't care what the cost.  She is getting to her family and in the fastest way possible.

She valet parks at the airport and boogies into the counter, asking, "When is the next flight to Milan?"

After a few quiet moments the ticket clerk says that there is one leaving in an hour, with a long lay over in London."

"I'll take it." Beth exclaims, excited that she is getting one step closer to her honeymoon and her family.  She's baffles that Jon would take the twins and leave like that.  Very baffled.

Beth pays for her ticket and makes her long way back to the gate and waits.  Once she's all checked in and luggage free, she finds a seat and waits to board.  With her iPad and iPhone, she sits there minding her own business until and elderly looking woman sits next to her.  Beth is polite, looks at the lady and smiles.

The lady smiles back, "Where are you going dear?" she asks Beth.

"To Milan."

"Really, me too.  Business or pleasure.?  The lady continues, "I'm going for business."

Beth smiles, putting her devices on her lap to give the elderly lady all of her attention, "I'm going on my honeymoon."

The lady gives her a crooked look, "Where is your husband?"

"He's already on his way.  We don't fly together in the event that there is an air disaster."

Another crazy look.  And Beth just let's it go.  "When did you get married?"

"Just a few hours ago."

"Oh my, a few hours ago?" The elderly lady is a little puzzled by that.  Not wanting to pry or make Beth feel like she had to talk to her, the lady ended with, "Congrats on your nuptials, dear."  And she then focus her attention to the news, CNN is on every TV in the terminal.

Beth does the same, completely caught of guard by, "This just in...Rocker Jon Bon Jovi left at the alter, just moments after marrying his longtime girlfriend and mother of his twins, Beth Ann Adams.  It's been confirmed that Beth left the couples home just moments after their ceremony that was interrupted by her former fiance, that was presumed dead.  Sources tell us that the ex fiance, known at this point only as Brian, is currently in police custody and Beth is at the Rumson Police Department with him."  They flash several pictures from the ceremony, the interruption and of the police pulling out of the driveway with Beth and Brain in the back seat.

Beth can feel the story sitting heavy in her stomach, listening to what happened sounded absolutely awful. It was then that the lady next to Beth realized that she was the one on the news.  She looks at her and can see the tears that are welling up in her eyes, "Dear, is that you?"  She reaches over and puts her hand on Beth's.

Beth just nodes her head.  She reaches into her pocketbook and grabs her cell phone to send Jon a text.  She quickly taps out, I'm in Newark catching a plane to Milan.  Long layover in London.  I'll be there as soon as I can.  I'm sorry and I love you!!  She presses send and hopes that IF he responds, it's a good response.

She looks back up at the TV and sees that she and Jon are still top story.   She slides sunglasses on and sits there and waits for her flight.

When she finally lands in Milan, she catches a cab to the hotel.  After she learns what rooms her family is in, she gets a room key but is told by the front desk lady that the family just went to the pool.  "Can I leave these her for a few minutes?"  Beth asks, referring to her luggage.

"Absolutely."  The front desk lady responds, "They will be fine here."

Beth slides her luggage out of the way, smiles at the woman and says, "Thank you."

She then makes her way to the pool.  The closer she gets, she can smell the chlorine and she can hear the laughter of children.  As she rounds the corner, she sees her husband laying on a lounge chair, talking on his phone.  Scanning him up and down quickly, she thinks to herself that he looks absolutely perfect.
She's startled when she hears someone yell her name, "BETH!!"  She quickly turns her head and sees that it's Romeo.  She waves to the kids in the pool with a big smile on her face, as she walk toward Jon.  He heard her name and that caught his attention too.  He looks over and sees the disheveled mess coming at him and immediately gets off his phone.

When Beth gets to him, she sits down on the chair next to him, "Hey."

Come on already, let them be happy.

Since think there is going to be issues with Brianna's name now.

  4. Exactly! How many x's is he going to let her run and come back to him. BUT this was different she didn't expect her dead fiancé to come back from the dead and show up at her wedding now did she? And she did come back and fly all the way to Milan to them Jon didn't run after her. Anyway Good Luck Beth especially with Jon's temper maybe he'll understand. He does love you!

  5. I hope he's done with her. how could she not comprehend that her up & leaving on their wedding day to go with her old boyfriend not be so hurtful? Sorry but I don't think they are meant to be together. too much baggage & heartache associated to their relationship.
