Chapter 109 - Everything About Us - Gets Me Through

Jon and Beth are in the living room watching the kids run around like chickens with no heads.  They are excited, which causes them to be excited.

Watching the laughter and the smiles of their children are constant reminders that they did the right thing.  They stood shoulder to shoulder and fast the clueless foursome and won.  All they have left to deal with is Dorothea and her inability to let go of Jon and the life that she thought they would have together.
"Jacob, make sure you wear a long sleeve shirt."  Beth loudly reminds him, as he runs by her with his shoes in his hand.  "You guys need to layer, once the sun goes down it's going to get cold."  She watches the boys and Brianna scurry with no purpose, and that warms her heart.

"They'll be fine, babe.   They'll run all night long."  Jon leans back on the couch, tucking his hands behind his head.  "When they get home, they will crash."

"Yeah, but if they're not warm, they'll whine."  She responds, with a sarcastic look, "And you have the talent of blocking out the whine."

"It's a talent that has taken me years to perfect."  Winking at her, he admits.  "I haven't always been this cool and collected, you know that."   His eyes are fixed on her and as he watches her watch the kids, he feels the need to tell her, "You're an amazing mother."

"I know." she chuckles.  "It took you years to see that?"

"I knew it the day I met you."

"Oh really?"  she gets up from where she's sitting and climbs up on him.  With her nose touching his nose, "From the day you met me all those years ago, when I didn't give two shits about who you were?"

He laughs, "Do you give two shits yet, after all these years?"

She plants her lips on his, quickly darts her tongue between his lips and nods her head.  He responds to her kiss, holding her close and drawing in her scent.  "I do."

They are disturbed by the sound of a crying child.  Beth slowly turns around, looks over her shoulder  and see Brianna  sitting in the doorway crying.  "She's calling for you."  Jon laughs, as he cracks Beth's ass.  "This one has you written all over it."

Slowly Beth climbs off of Jon, standing to go see what's up with Brianna - but not before she sticks her tongue out at him.  "of course it's for me, I don;t tune her out."

Beth walks over to her baby girls and picks her up, "What's the matter baby girl?"  She hoists her on her lip and kisses her cheek.

"Romy..." is what the little one tells her mommy, as she points down the hallway, tears rolling down her face.

"What did Romeo do?"  Beth asks her, walking in the direction of the loud children.  "What did he do to his baby sister?

Jon remains on the couch, hearing the laughter and the squeals he can't help but feel content.  They have finally reached the point in their life that they knew that they would get to.  They just had no idea the trials and tribulations that they would have to go through to get where they are now.

It took some time, a lot of money and persistence - but with an amazing legal team and dedication Jon and Beth managed to get Dalton, Melissa and Brian to go away.  Dalton and Melissa were taken away in handcuffs from their last court appearance for their lengthy stay at the state bed and breakfast.  Brian, being found guilty of nothing but loving Beth for longer than he should have decided that it best that he leave the east coast, to never return.  His creepy behavior afforded Jon, Beth and everyone close to them an order of protection, keeping him 1500 feet away at all times, with a stern suggestion from the judge to never return to New Jersey.  With his tail tucked and heart broken he went to parts unknown to the Bongiovi's.

Dorothea went back to being miserable and alone, taking every opportunity to get in Jon and Beth's business - but as they decided to put the past behind them and let bygones be bygones they realized that alone, and with her own thoughts and ideas - Dorothea was pretty harmless.  There were times that Beth felt sorry for her and would reach out to her, but Dorothea was still scorned, bitter and wanted nothing to do with Beth.  Dorothea focused most of her attention to her charitable work and as the family died in the headlines, it was easier for her to move on and start working on her new identity.  The identity that didn't include the uber famous husband.  She is now just Jon Bon Jovi's ex wife, with a touch of crazy.

Jon, lost in his thoughts, is startled when he hears Beth say, "Are you ready?"

He lifts his head and looks at her.  She has Jon Spencer and Brianna next to her, they are dressed in their first ever Halloween costumes.  His smile reaches his eyes as he sees Beth dresses as Dr. Seuss and the twins are Thing 1 and Thing 2.  "You look amazing!"  He stands to walk toward her, "Look at you two."  He stops and kneels in front of the twins.  "Babe, you did an amazing job with these costumes."

"These are all Pete.  She did this, I just gave her the idea."

"You guys look fantastic.  Where are Jake and Romeo?"

Beth laughs, "Well, Jake isn't going and Romeo is probably beating him with his shield."

"What do you mean Jake isn't going?" he asks her as he stands up, swooping Jon Spencer off the floor.  "this was his idea."

"He said he's too old."

Jon, with twin in tow makes his way to the boys that are piss farting around in the family room.  "Jake, you're not going?"

The young man shakes his head, "I'm too old dad."

"Says who?"

"No one says, I just think that I am."

"You can go with us, you don't have to trick or treat."

"I'm good."

"Come on...."

Jake doesn't want to do the whole doorbell ringing, trick or treat screaming or the running house to house, "I've trick or treated before dad."

"Yeah, but it's been years since you've been able to."

"Like I said, I'm good." he reminds his dad.  "Romeo and the twins will have fun."

"Are you sure that you don't want to go?"

He shakes his head again.  "I'm sure, I'll hang out with Cate and them at uncle Matt's."

With his attention focused on Jacob, Jon doesn't notice that Beth walked in the room.  "Are we ready to go boys?  Uncle Matt is getting anxious, he's ready to take Rocco and hit the hood."  That makes Beth laugh.  "He wants to get his trick or treat on."
