Chapter 92 - Lay Your Head On My Shoulder

Beth stands and grabs her purse, her head pounding so severe she hopes her brain jumps out of her head.

A quick look to Dorothea and a longer look to Jon, she quietly mumbles, "You helped them with their book.  Their book of lies?  You did that?"  Beth can't look at Dorothea again, her feelings yo yo back and forth from hurt to anger, with a little bit of foolish mixed in for good measure.

"Yes!" Dorothea responds, "How do you think they got all of the inside information and pictures?"

"It was you?"  Jon asks as he stands and takes his place next to Beth.

Dot starts to get cocky, not liking the way that Jon and Beth look as they stand undivided.  She feels a little bit of vindication, a little bit of winning as she starts to says, "What's the big deal?  It was just a book."

"It was a book that you helped two people that destroyed our lives write.  Why would you even do that?"  Beth starts to let her emotions rise from a place that she has had them buried in for a long time, "You stupid bitch.   You did this.  You're behind all of this."  Beth squints as she looks in Dot's directions.  "How could you do this Dorothea, do your children mean anything to you?"

"What do my children have to do with this?" Dot snaps back at her, "They aren't in any of this?"

"Yes they are, Dorothea.  Whatever you do, to me and to us directly affects the kids."  Jon jumps in, feeling the same rage that Beth is feeling.  He slowly takes Beth's hand and squeezes her fingers, he waits for her to squeeze back.  Instead she shakes her hand free and lunges at Dorothea.  "You stupid stupid bitch.  Why would you do this to us?"  And Beth takes Dorothea down to the floor, without missing a beat, "We have done nothing to you to deserve this."  Beth slaps her across her face, again.

Jon is quick to break them up, pulling Beth up off her, "Come on Beth, it isn't worth this.  Let go of her hair."  He tries to lift her, she's dead weight as she continues to hit Dorothea.  "Beth, let go."  His anger is fueling his energy and he gets her up and helps her stand.

Dorothea on her back with a bloody nose screams, "Get that crazy bitch out of my house.  I'm calling the cops and having her arrested."  Dorothea slides back a few feet and manages to get to her feet, "Crazy fucking bitch, Brian is so right about you."

"Fuck you!"  Beth snaps, brushing her hair off of her face, "If that crazy asshole was here, I'd beat his ass too."  She pulls down her shirt, not taking her eyes off of Dot, "You're lucky Jon was here."

"Go home crazy!"  Dot screams, fixing her clothes, noticing that she has a bloodied nose.  "Jon get her out of here."

"Let's all take a deep breath and focus." he states, looking Beth over to make sure that she is okay.  "Dorothea, we need to know all that you know."

"I don't know anything."

"Bullshit.  We need to know, not only for us, but for your own children.  They all are dangerous people and we need to prepare for whatever they're planning."

Dorothea exhales loudly, wrapping her sweater tight around her body, "I have no idea what they are up to, what can they really do?  Melissa is in jail."

"So is Dalton, but it hasn't stopped him yet.  He found a fucking dim wit like you to do his crazy shit.  What are you and Brian planning?"

"You're the fucking dim wit Beth, Dalton isn't in jail.  He's been out for about three weeks.  Didn't you know that?" Dot snides at her, with a smile that she can't control.  "Little Miss Beth didn't know that he ex boyfriend was released from jail."  She laughs and laughs.

"Have you seen him?!?"  Jon's focus shifts, "Dorothea, have you seen him?  Is he here on the east coast?"

Dorothea walks over to the window wall and looks out over the city, "I'm not his travel agent, I have no idea where he is."

"Dorothea, have you seen him or talked to him?"  Beth screams at her, her body trembling and the feeling of sickness getting stronger, "Why are you doing this to me?"

The three of them were startled by the door buzzer.   Jon walks over to the intercom and answers the buzz, "Yes?"

"There is a Brian Richardson here to see Ms. Bongiovi." the dutiful doorman replies,  unknowing who Brian was.

Jon looks at Beth and then Dorothea.  Dorothea's jaw drops and Jon can see that this was an unexpected visit.  He then focuses his attention to Beth who has gone to a very pale shade of white.  Jon doesn't know what to do.  "Babe?"

Beth looks at him and shrugs her shoulder, burying her face in her hands.  "I don't know Jon."

"Let him up!"  Dorothea snaps at Jon, walking toward the intercom.  "Get out of the way."  Jon doesn't make it easy for her to tell the doorman to let him up.

After a few minutes, there is a knock at the door and Dorothea answers it.  Jon and Beth are standing by the window wall looking out over the city.  "Why is she doing this to me?"  Beth mumbles under her breath.  "Does she think that even if I run that you will go back to her?  After all of the evil and hurtful things she has done."

They are interrupted by the sound of Brian's voice.  "That will never happen, she's over Jon."

They both spin on their heels giving attention the the voice that they just heard.  Beth can't look him in the eye, she doesn't want to make eye contact with the devil, she doesn't want him to see that she's hurting, that he and Dorothea are doing exactly what they set out to do.

"So, you're the mastermind behind all of this?"  Jon asks, walking into Brian.

"Behind all of what?"  Brian replies, taking a step back.  "What do you think we're up to?"

"Why are you here?" Beth mouses, taking Jon's hand.  "Why are you in my life?"

"Because I love you Beth."   he admits, "I still love you."

"After all of these years?  After all that you have done to her, what do you really expect?" Jon jumps in, keeping the conversation focused and on the questionable behavior.  "Why are you back now?"

Brian takes a seat on the sofa, wanting to remove any feeling of confrontation and tension then starts to tell them, "I have never stopped loving her and leaving her like I did nearly killed me."

"Brain, you never told me that you were still in love with her!"  Dot blurts at Brian, taking a seat next to him on the couch.  "I thought you loved me."

"So did I, but I don't."  Brain admits to her, resting a hand on her leg.  "While I was upstate, I had some time to think."  He winks at Dot and then looks at Jon and Beth, "I'm glad that the two of you are here, my next top was your house."

"Why?" Jon snaps.  "What do you want?"

"Yeah, what do you want?  You have Dorothea and a wife in prison." Beth barks at him, "You have them, why can't you leave us alone and stay away from the children."  Jon's arm goes around her shoulder and he pulls her close, she rests her head on his shoulder, "Leave us and the kids alone."

"Beth Ann."  Brian mumbles."

"Don't call me that." Beth bites his head off, "Why are you here?"

Brain stands and starts to pace, Dorothea following his every move.  He runs his fingers through his hair and sighs heavily, "I'm here right now to tell Dorothea that I can't see her anymore."

"You already left, why did you come back?" Jon asks, "Why couldn't you just have stayed gone.  There is no reason for you to be here in New York City, in the house that I pay for."

"Look Jon, you win."

"What the fuck are you talking about?" the full on stink eye makes Dorothea shiver, she can see that Jon is pissed - a pissed that she hasn't seen in a very long time.

"You have your current wife and your ex wife all to your self, what more could you need?" Brian sarcastically says, "And your beautiful little children, that I hear could be mine."

Beth's stomach hits the floor and then bounces up and takes out her heart, she's thinking, 'Oh my God, how does he know about that?'
