Chapter 30 - Just To Hear Them Back

The car was waiting for them outside of the emergency room doors, the most private entrance/exit of the hospital, or so they thought.

The twins were nesteled in their infant carseats, daddy strapping them into the backseat of the car.  Beth was in the wheelchair waiting her turn to get in the car.  They could hear and see the paparazzi everywhere.

With the first photo of the twins being leaked, when they were carried outside, they were covered with blankets.  No one was able to get a shot of their faces.  It was hard to get Beth's too, being behind her avaitor glasses that she stole from Jon.  He looked great.  A smile on his face that he wanted the world to see.  Purple t-shirt and his famous black ball cap.  He looked like a man that was ready to take his family home and finally get on with life, not just live.

It was a sunny afternoon and Beth loved the way that the sun felt on her face.  She says to Jon, as he's situating the babies and their bag, "I think when we get home, I just want to sit on the patio."

"That sounds like a good idea." as he steps out of the car, holding the wheelchair for her to get in.  He takes her hand and helps her stand, as the nurse pulls the wheelchair away.  Beth looks back at her and smiles.

"Good luck."  the nurse waves as she walks inside.

Jon and Beth both tell her thank you and she disappears into the hospital.  Beth gets in and positions herself between the car seats.  Jon gets in and sits across from her, looking back her tells the driver, "We're ready."

The ride up to the valley was very relaxing for both of them.  The sun was warm through the windows, making Beth a little sleepy.  She lays back in the seat, yawns and says to Jon, "Thank you."

"Thank me, for what?" he gives her the crooked smile, knowing that there is nothing in the world that she needed to thank him for.

"Well, half of the world is pissed at you.  I do read the news ya know." she says, "I know that the frenzy is all about you and the two weeks that you cancelled."

"So."

"Thank you for doing that for me.  Thank you for going home with us, and thank you for loving me like you do."  She slides her feet between his legs, his hands welcoming them.

Rubbing her slightly swollen feet, he can't help but smile at her.   She has no make up on, her long blonde flowing hair has been pulled back into a ponytail, with the glow in her face of that of a new mother.  In his mind, she's perfect.  "There is no where else I would rather be, you know that."

"I know, but I know this tour is a big one for you."

"They're all big for me, but NOTHING trumps this right here." he admits to her, and then adding, "I can't wait for the kids to see them.  Stephanie is really excited."

"She's been blowing up my phone and sending me emails while she's in class.  She is super excited."

"I'll work on getting them out here, I dont want them to miss too much school."

Beth closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep.  She had her babies and the man that had her heart right there with her. She had everything that she could ever want?

She startled awake when the car comes to a stop.  It wasn't a fast stop, she could just feel that the car stopped moving.  Lifting her head, she looks left and then right.  The babies are still sound asleep, and Jon is sitting there, smiling at her.  "They're home."

Beth looks out the window and sees that they are at the vineyard.  Gathering herself and her things, she gets out of the car first and waits for Jon.  She watches him unbuckle the car seats and moves them closer to the door.  She hikes her purse up on her shoulder and reaches in for a carseat.  Jon slaps her hand, "I'll get them, can you open the door?"

She laughs at him, "Yes, dad."  She goes and unlocks the door and waits for her man with her babies.  When she walks in the door she is so surprised to see all the flowers and all of the smiling faces.  She looks back over her shoulder and she sees Jon's white teeth grinning at her, "Did you do this?"

He nods his head, "They all wanted to see you and the babies."

She walks in and gets hugs from everyone, with her first one being from Romeo.   He sees her and is instantly drawn to her, he has missed her so.  The first four hugs were the kids, she had to hug and kiss the kids that she missed so much.  She said hello, more hugs and more kisses.

Jon walked passed the 5 of them and handed the carseats off to his brother, Tony.  He takes them and sits them on the kitchen table so everyone could see them, everyone wanted a peek at the latest additions to the family.

Jon's mom is front and center, so much in fact, she pays no attention to either Jon or Beth.  She pulls back the blanket on the pink car seat and as soon as she sees Brianna, her breath is taken fom her.  Her eyes start to water and she says, "McKenna!"

"Ma."  Jon says, purely out of reflex.

She covers her mouth, looks at Beth and mumbles, "She looks just like her, my God."

Beth agrees, Brianna looks just like McKenna.

The family gathered in the living room and spent a few minutes with the babies before Beth took them into the nursery to feed them.  Jon stayed with the family and asked Matt to go up and order a feast for all of them.  Jon was hungry and he assumed Beth would be too.  Matt did as asked and while he was gone, Mrs. B set the table for them all to eat.

Jon went in and checked on Beth.  She was propped up on the bed, with Jon Spencer attached and Brianna sound asleep again.  "What can I do for you babe?"

"Nothing.  We're good."

"You sure?"

She nods, "Did you set that all up?"

He shakes his head no, "That was all mom.  She must have doen travel and everything, I made it clear I wasn't doing anything travel related.  She must have taken care of it all."

"I was so happy to see all of them."

"I guess there going to stay for a day or two.  Mom thinks that you might need some help."

  3. How wonderful for the family to be there when the twins came home. Beth was so surprised. Hope she's feeling the love & joy being with the family again. Wonder how its gonna go when Jon has to go back to work. Something tells me Jon will want them with him & Beth will want to stay home. That'll be a battle I think.
