Chapter 35 - Maybe, Someday

It was time for the twins to have their one month check up, and Beth was excited.  That means that Jon would be landing anytime and they will go into town together.

She was ready, she was now running around double checking the diaper bag, making sure that she had all that she needed for an afternoon away from home.  She hasn't left the vineyard at all in the two weeks that Jon was gone.  There was no need for her too.  She called and ordered what she needed from the town grocer and she had a kitchen at her disposal, she was all set.

As she feds Spencer, with her iphone in her hand, she's scrolling through her emails when she can hear the distance sound of a chopper.  Her heart started to race.  The closer it got, the harder her heart beat.  She sets her phone down on the table, and gives all of her attention to Spencer.  "That sounds like your daddy."  She rubs his cheek with her thumb and can't help but feel a warmth coming over her.  "Should we go meet him out back?"

She finishes feeding him and burps him as she listens to the chopper hover above the vineyard and finally land.  She smiles, knowing that Jon will laugh at the little garage she had built and the golf cart that she put out there, with a sign on the side that says The Royal Assholes Ride.

Jon hops off the helicopter with his duffle bag and his messenger bag in his hands.  Chris waves him goodbye and he starts to lift off.  As Jon approaches the new building in the middle of the field, he can't help but see the sign on the side.  He smiles from ear to ear and even laughs out loud when he sees it.  He looks in the window and sees the golf cart with a big red bow on it.  Setting his bags on the ground, he opens the door and checks out the new ride that he has.  He can't help but laugh, he can't help but say out loud, "Leave it to you to think of everything."  He looks around and sees the small seating area that has a couch and a coffee table in it.  All on a decorative area rug.  He sees off to the side the miniature refrigerator, she even had a bathroom put in.  Nothing fancy, just a toilet and a sink.  She knows that she always has to pee just before she boards, so she installed the bathroom for herself.

Jon opens the 'garage' door and pulls his little golf cart out, that's painted with flames and the famous heart and dagger.  Once he gets it out, he closes the door and grabs his bags.  He's on his way to see the love of his life and his brand new babies.  To him they are two weeks old.

Beth is perched on the deck, with the twins in their stroller, waiting to see daddy come home on his new ride.  She can hear the faint hum of the golf cart and when she can finally see him, she sees that he is on the phone.  That bummed her out a little bit, but business was business and she knows that she has to take the bad with the good.

He parks in a spot that he thinks she would want him to park.  As he gets off, he ends his conversation and walks up on the deck.  He didn't need to hear a word, or say a word.  He was looking at the most beautiful woman in the world and for the first time in years, he can see that glimmer in her eye and that causes a lump in his throat.  He can see that she is 100% happy.  She wants for nothing more and he's thrilled, pleased, elated and thankful that he was able to give her all that she's ever wanted; again.

No words are exchanged.  He smiles as he walks into her and stops when his lips touch hers.  With each other in their arms, he whispers, "Hey." into her ear.

She looks up at him and says, "Hi."  He kisses her again.

"How was your flight?" she asks, as he breaks their hold to look in on his babies.

Bent over and kissing the twins he quietly says, "It was long."  After several kisses on each baby, he stands up and says, "It felt long."  Walking back to Beth, "How are you?"

She smiles, reaching for his hand, "I'm good."  She pulls him close and throws her arms around his neck, "Better now that you're here."

His arms go around her waist, "The golf cart, cute." he laughs at her.  "Who did you get to do that?"

"Some company from town."

"It's perfect.  I dreaded the walk from the pad to the house."

"You should have seen the guy that came out to price the job.  When he seen he was building it in the middle of a field, I know he thought I was crazy."

"I bet." he kisses her forehead, "It's not often you see a golf cart garage, with plumbing, in the middle of a field."

She starts to get her things around, "I need to have something built here at the house too."

"Are we ready to go?" he asks her, as he watches her look through her purse for whatever.  "Are we driving or did you call a car?"

She stops what she's doing and looks up at him, "I didn't call a car, I thought you would drive?"

"I can.  What do I need to do?" he stands over her, looking at the twins still asleep in their stroller.  "Where are their seats?"

"They are by the door."

Jon gets the car seats and they prepare the twins for their trip to the pediatrician.

The drive into town was nice.  Beth liked being out of the house and she was glad that Jon came back for their first visit.  "I can't believe how much they have grown and how great you look." he says to her as he takes her hand.  "You are still glowing."

"They are growing like weeds, and I feel great.  The last couple of weeks have been good for me."

"How so?" he winks at her, so happy to be with her now and doing exactly what they are going to do.

Beth smiles and starts to open up, "They have been very cathartic for me.  I have done nothing except take care of the twins."

"That's great."

"Yeah, the first couple of days were tough." she squeezes his hand.

He picks up on that and says, "How come?"

"I have been thinking about McKenna a lot, and how much I missed out on while I was working.  I was so focused on opening the office, that I wasn't there for so much.  And thinking about that, makes me feel bad for you right now."

"Bad for me? Why?"

She rests her head on the headrest and really opens up, "I did in vitro and then had sex with you, and either resulted in a pregnancy - that we never discussed or planned.  We then have these beautiful twins and you are on the road, missing out on them like I did with McKenna."

  1. Awe great chapter Jons.

Really great to see Beth open up to Jon. Atta girl Beth! Sounds like she has really been doing some soul searching. Maybe she will think about going on the road to see him once in awhile. It won't be easy but she'd have lots of help from Jon & the guys.

As Peg said I to think she may go out on the road. Can you see the guys with a baby along? OMG I can see chapters ahead where all we can do is laugh as it's so funny.

Great chapter. Worth the wait. Thanks.
