Chapter 68 - All Of Me

Jon wakes up, rolls over and sees Beth sound asleep next to him.  He's on top of the blankets, and she's snuggled in under the down comforter.  He's chilled, so he climbs in under the covers with her and holds her tight.

Beth shimmy's into him, but doesn't wake up.  He sees that it 9:30 and can't believe that he slept so well, so sound.   He's amazed that he feels so rested.

Without disturbing her, he starts to rub her arm, loving the way that she feels and loving the fact that they are so happy together.  He knows that she's going to be upset that he let her sleep so late.  He didn't care.

He laid with her for almost an hour, feeling a peace that he has only felt with her and a peace that they haven't had in a very long time.  He gives thought to their upcoming nuptials and hopes that she changes her mind about having the wedding at their house.  He loves the house that they are making a home and wants to celebrate the beginning of the rest of their life there, but he knows that she's going to fight him on it.  She's going to not agree, or at least he doesn't think that she will.

Beth starts to stir.  Jon backs up a little giving her room to move, remembering that her elbows pack a hell of a punch.  She stretches, yawns and looks over at Jon,  "MMmm, good morning."

"Good Morning." he gets up on his left elbow, leans in and kisses her.  "How did you sleep?"

With another yawn, she smiles, "I slept great.  What about you?"

He laughs, "I slept great too, I've been up about an hour."

"Why didn't you wake me?" she sits up a little in bed, grabbing his hand.  "How did you manage to lay in bed for an hour?"

He kisses her shoulder, once - twice.  "It was tough, I laid here and touched you all over and watched you sleep."

"How exciting!"  Beth jokes, "Do you want to go for a run?"

He grins at her, he loved the idea as they haven't ran together in quite a while.  Back at home, they run in shifts, not wanting to leave the kids with Pete anymore than they needed to.  "I'd love to go for a run, do you want to eat first?"

She sits up straighter, pushing the down comforter enough so she can pull her feet out.  "Let me pee and brush and we can go, if you want."

He climbs out of bed and they get ready to go for a run.  Both of them are refreshed, energized and ready to go.  In the elevator, Jon asks her, "Do we run the regular route or should we go off the beaten path?"

"Let's see how busy it is and then we'll decide.  If the lobby is full with check ins and out, we'll go off the beaten path.  If it's dead, we'll take the regular way."

"Okay." his arm goes around her and he doesn't want to fight the urge to pull her close.  With her close enough, he kisses the side of her head, "I adore you."

"I know you do." she leans into his kiss, "I like you a little bit, too."

They exit the elevator and see that the lobby is kind of busy.  Beth assess it and tells Jon,  I think we can take the usual way.  It doesn't look too busy yet."

"Cool.  Let's go."  His hand finds the small of her back and he guides her out the side entrance and they are off on their run.  The couple's run was the perfect start to a great day.

They ran, showered and then had breakfast.  After breakfast, they did a walk through and just made sure that everything was going as well as it should be.  As they walked into the restaurant, Beth seen a sign that says that John Legend was playing a show in the lounge tonight and she was surprised.  Jon seen it too, "That's amazing, how did you pull that off?"

Beth shrugs her shoulders and says, "I had nothing to do with it, it must be Tony.  Let's go find Gloria."  She takes his hand and leads him to the office, where she knows she will find her trusted employee and friend.

"Maria - John Legend, really?"  she looks up and sees Jon and Beth.

"Good morning." she smiles, "Ah, yes, John Legend - that's all Tony's doing. Do you mind?"

"God no!"  Beth exclaims.  "Why didn't you let me know he was coming?"

"From what I understand, it was last minute.  He and his wife are here as Tony's guests."

Jon steps in, "Is Tony here?"

"Not that I know of."  she starts to wiggle the mouse on her computer and look at the hotel records.  "Not yet.  It looks like he made a reservation yesterday and he'll be here this afternoon."

Shocked by that too, "Really?  What's the occasion?"

She gives Jon and Beth a look like she has no clue.  "I was off yesterday and am just learning of this myself.  I think it's awesome."

Jon responds, "I love his work.  I look forward to seeing him."

"Me too." Beth admits.  "Okay, make sure that John and Tony have the best of the best.  If you need to go buy it, go buy it.  I want it to be perfect."

"Will do."

Jon and Beth make their way back up to their suite and Jon takes care of a little bit of work that came in while he was gone.  Paul emailed him the charity dates and he confirmed those that he wants to do.  Beth calls home and checks on everything.  Lupetta answers the phone, "Hi Beth."

"Hi Pete, how is everything?" Beth asks, knowing that everything is fine.  But her breasts and her mommy instinct makes her have to ask.  "The kids okay?"

"Nothing has changed since Jon called when you were in the shower.  His mom and dad are here and everyone is fine."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes, Beth.  I am sure." Pete says with a little sternness in her voice, "You pay me to do my job, now leave me alone so I can do it.  Enjoy this time with Jon and I will see you tomorrow, OKAY BETH?"

Beth laughs, "Okay Pete, I'm sorry.  But I know you understand."

"I do.  Now goodbye." And Pete hangs up.  Beth stands there with her phone on her hand a little dumbfounded.

The day passes quickly as they both stay busy.  They walk the grounds, in disguise, and Beth takes care of what needs to be taken care of.  When they are finished with that, they head back to their suite and get ready for dinner and John Legend.  Beth is excited and really looking forward to it.

"Babe, does this dress look okay?" she asks Jon as he's attempting to tie a tie, getting frustrated.

He turns to look at her and says, "Babe, you look amazing.  That dress fits you perfect in all of the right places."

"My boobs don't look to big?"

He shakes his head no, "They look perfect, you are gorgeous."

"Is it too much?" she asks, hoping he says no because she has no other option but blue jeans.

"It's perfect." he walks up to her, "Will you tie this?"

She smiles and gladly ties his tie.  With both of them dressed and heading toward the door, she asks Jon, "When did you call home?"

"How do you know I called home?"

"Because I called home and Pete about bit my head off." Beth chuckles, "She said nothing had changed since you called."

"Well."

"Why didn't you tell me?" she asks, thinking that it would have been nice to know that she was kind of walking into a lion's den when she called home.

"You would have called, either way."  He opens the door and they leave to go down and have a great dinner, with equally great music.

Dinner is well under way, Jon getting irritated by the tie takes it off as Beth gives him a look like 'really?'  Tony is with them, being his quiet usual self.

"It's stifling."

She rolls her eyes and takes his hand, "You look amazing in everything that you wear."

They were interrupted during their conversation by a loud round of applause.  Their attention was directed at John Legend who was calling John up on stage.  Jon was shocked and a little scared.

"Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm welcome to my friend and the hottest man in rock and roll, Jon Bon Jovi."

Jon knows how to play the game and to dance the dance.  He graciously kisses Beth and takes a stool next to John on the small stage that's in the lounge area of the hotel.  Beth can see that he's nervous, but she loves to see him on the spot and in the spotlight.  She loves to watch him perform.

John hands Jon a guitar and that start talking.  John asks Jon, "What are you doing here?"

"My fiancé owns this vineyard, and we are here for a couple days, relaxing."

John can see the smile on Jon's face when he talks about his fiancé.  "You're engaged?"

"Yeah."  he rests his head on his arm, that's resting on the guitar, "She accepted my proposal and we're getting married this fall."

"Jon, that is great.  Congrats!  I think you should sing her a song,' he looks to the small intimate crowd, "What do you think?"

The place went crazy with applause and a lot of woo hoo's.  Jon was a little embarrassed and then John says, "Where is your bride to be.  Is it that gorgeous woman over there in that watermelon colored dress?"

"That's her.  That's Beth."  Jon says.

John Legend then says, "Beth, can you please stand up and say Hi?"

Beth stands and waves, turning a 360 to say hi to everyone and then she takes her seat.  Tony tells Beth, "You waved like a beauty queen.  That was pretty lame."

Tony came to the vineyard to see how well the small intimate performance is going to go over.  He had the idea to make the lounge a place for big names to play for smaller more intimate venues.

John says, "Let's hear what you have."

Jon thinks for a minute, and starts to strum the cords for or Loving Me and then he looks at Beth.  He sees her smile and that makes him smile.  His smile has the warmth that could soften even the coldest of hearts.  He sings the song with every word being sung to Beth.  The tears flow and she has never been more proud of him professionally than she is right now.

Beth was in the middle of a dream and she can't believe what she is hearing.  John Legend backing Jon Bon Jovi.  The trip up to Napa was worth it in many ways.
